Mode of Action

• The active ingredient in Confidor®—imidacloprid disrupts the normal functioning of the nervous system in insects by exciting specific nerve cells through interaction with a receptor protein.

• In contrast to acetylcholine, which is rapidly degraded by the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, imidacloprid is either slow to be inactivated or cannot be inactivated at all. This leads to the dysfunction of the nervous system in treated insects, causing their death.
